Ice Castles, Utah

Checked off a bucket list adventure this weekend. Jordan and I headed up with my sister and her family to the Ice Castles in Midway, Utah!

We got there right at when it opened, and fought the crowds just a bit. As the day wore on (we stayed for just a couple hours) the crowds definitely grew. It was another one of those outings where you try and snag photos without strangers wandering in the background.

The ice castle makes for pretty cool photos, and I think they are most enjoyed with kiddos in tow. There are a few other locations across North America, so if there is one in your area, definitely check ’em out!

In other news, I’m 22 weeks! Some half-way point pregnancy thoughts:

\\ I’m still back and forth between feeling REAL pregnant, and just feeling bloated. Some days the bump is pretty prominent, and others I just feel like my clothes are a bit tight.

\\ Energy is better now that I’m well into the second trimester. I know I didn’t really write much during the first tri, and that was mostly because I was just so dang tired! I’d come home and collapse on the couch/watch Netflix/not make dinner. Jordan was a big help during those months. (Side-note regarding Netflix: I do not get the hype with Gilmore Girls. Don’t hate me.)

\\ I’m really drawn to neutral colors for the nursery/baby clothes. I’ve never been too big on color myself, and I am thinking of sticking to black and white, with just a bit of pop of color for the nursery. Pinterest is my best friend for inspiration. Check out my nursery board if ya wanna.

\\ Food cravings haven’t been too strong for me. I had some food aversions/nausea during the first trimester, but it was not nearly as bad as I had feared (my sister had HORRIBLE nausea, threw up every day. I never threw up. KNOCK ON WOOD). The one thing I admit I can NOT get enough of is orange juice. That stuff is liquid gold. But for the most part, ANY food is really really delicious. Except when it gives me heart burn. I’ve had a few bad spells and it is THE WORST.

\\ Maternity photos? I’ve always felt a little silly about them. Heck, I didn’t even do bridals because I just felt kinda funny parading around in my dress, getting pictures of myself. But I kinda regret not doing them, so I think I’ll just have Jordan take a few maternity shots. I got a dress that isn’t maternity, but fits over my belly, AND the photos could be a good way to reveal the gender officially. (Although I did kinda spill the beans on Instagram if you are super curious ;) haha). So stay tuned for those- I’ll probably wait a few more weeks for this bump to grow!

\\ All in all, being pregnant for the first time has been an incredible experience. I love having this baby with me 24/7, and I’m constantly daydreaming of what it will be like. Now if we could just figure out a name! Current nicknames include burrito, baby bean, and Baby Eight (a nod to the robot BB8 from the latest Star Wars.)

You did a brilliant job of making it look like you guys were the only ones visiting the ice castles – looks absolutely magical. And very, very cold!

Whoa this is serious, I’ve never heard of this place before. Congratulations!
