Baby R Birth Story

Well, whadya know? The day after posting about our Babymoon to Moab, baby girl decided to make her appearance. And two days early!

Born two days before her due date, Baby R has been here two months! And yes, it’s true what they say. Time has just FLOWN by. I can’t believe it. And I can’t believe how happy this little bug makes us!

Baby R Birth Story

When I was pregnant, I loved reading birth stories. Not only do I want to remember this day, but maybe some other pregnant people out there will enjoy this as well. :) SO, on to the birth story!

Pregnancy Update – 36 Weeks!

April 26, 2016

Hi! It’s been a while. I really wanted to be better at documenting this pregnancy, but I kept waiting for life to slow down. And it never did.

So what better time than now to dust off the ol’ blog (for the 50th time) and write down a little update!

Baby Bump

I am 36 weeks. Woah. Baby COULD come any day, and be healthy. But I’ll let her cook a while longer, if she doesn’t mind ;) It really is a strange/incredible thing, watching your body work and change and grow a baby. I mean, I’m not actively doing anything to make this happen, but it keeps going and growing.

Washington – Hikes and Ferry Rides

March 9, 2016

One of the best parts about where my parents live here in Washington are the countless trailheads just minutes from their home. The damp, mossy forests are a welcome change to the dry Utah climate we’re used to. We took Kiko out on a few hikes and she could not even contain herself. I don’t blame her.

The fun continued with a trip downtown, swinging by Pike Place and hopping on a ferry out to Bainbridge. Read More

Our Next Little Adventure

January 6, 2016

I thought I wouldn’t do this.

I thought I wouldn’t be the one to skip out on the blog once this happened. BUT I did! And I really have no reason why. Tiredness? Preoccupied? I don’t know. That being said, we’ve got a pretty big announcement.

Our next little adventure coming this May 2016!

American Fork Canyon

Yup, a baby!

I wanted to kill two birds with one stone and have our baby announcement be in our Christmas card this year. So Jordan and I hurried up the canyon one day after work (with a tripod and Kiko in tow) and snapped a few photos. And we really don’t have any photos of the three of us (with Kiko), so the tripod was our photographer for the mini photo shoot.

We really are just beyond excited for this baby! I hope to write a more detailed update on our lives soon, so stay tuned!

Sunday Night Drive

Jordy is back! We can now resume our regularly scheduled program. He loved Asia, and his favorite stop was Hong Kong. We will share some of his photos and adventures from the trip, but I wanted to post some from our Sunday night drive last night.

Few Things on a Friday

August 21, 2015

I use this blog to document all our travels, but I have swept the every day happenings under the rug. So, I’ll try to do this more often. I’m gonna share random thoughts/links to things I find during the week. Sound good? No? Too bad. I’m in charge here. Jkjk.

But really.

// Jordan has been gone in Asia all week. I hate having him away, BUT I’ll admit. It has been a slower pace ’round these parts. And I’ve enjoyed it. Laze around the house? Dinner at 9? Heck, cereal for dinner? Sure! That being said, I AM ready for him to come home tomorrow.

// This article. I’m a sucker for nostalgia, and I think about my friends from my younger years all the time. I feel like social media has given me a false sense of closeness to these friends. This article made me wonder what it’d be like if I sat down with an old friend in real life. Would we pick up where we left off? Or would we feel like strangers?

// This is my favorite food blog. Of all time. Her love affair with food parallels my own. She knows my every craving. Speaking of, doesn’t this pizza look so dang good?

// Jord and I are prepping for our trip up to Banff in a few weeks. We’ve been looking at different AirBNB’s and lodges, but honestly? We might just rent a camper. I’m open to suggestions, too…

// School has already started here in Utah. I can’t even. But I refuse to let go of summer just yet. I took Kiko out last night on a little cruise around the neighborhood. It was perfect. And man, I feel like I’m failing to express my emotions through writing alone. I depend too heavily on emojis. I need a peace sign emoji to close us out. The struggle. It’s real.

Have a rad weekend, y’all!

UP IN THE AIR – Europe Bound

June 24, 2015

Airport Vibes

I feel like I blinked and it’s been two weeks since I last posted. Life doesn’t slow down for anyone! Jordan and I have been out on the road (er, in the sky) a bit lately for work, so I thought I’d share some film shots from up in the air.

Airport Vibes

This crazy world keeps spinning, and my trip across the pond is here! I’m meeting my family out in London this week. We will spend a few days exploring the city, then fly over to Germany. My grandmother is from Germany, so we will meet some distant cousins and explore places from her childhood. And eat bratwurst!

Jordan will be staying home this time, which is a pretty big bummer. I feel particularly guilty about leaving him, since it is our 6-year anniversary the day I fly out :(. We’ve got some mountain adventures planned when I return to celebrate/make up for the fact that I am jetting off on our anni. Also, he has Kiko to keep him company while I’m gone :).

I love this kid more every day.

Happy 6 years. Love you always, Jo!

Kiko’s Adoption

June 5, 2015

Kiko, Australian Shepherd Mix

Didn’t take long to snap some shots on film of this pup. I had a few more frames I needed to use up on a roll of film, she’s a pretty good model for that!

Kiko is just about 9 months old now, and quickly maturing from her puppy stage. The folks we adopted her from said she is an Australian Shepherd mix, but they were unsure of what she’s mixed with. After spending the past few weeks with her, we are pretty sure she is mixed with a border collie. This pup has some spunk!

How we came to adopt her was a bit serendipitous. I had been perusing the adoption sites for months, keeping an eye out for dogs we could adopt. There were some I was interested in, but they would either already be adopted, or live too far away.

Then I found Kiko. Immediately after seeing her posting, I emailed the adoption center to find out more about her. She was scheduled to be spayed and vaccinated that weekend, and would be available following her appointment.

Jordan and I were a bit conflicted. We were moving that next weekend, and would be out of town for work the following week, and it was going to just be too hard to adopt her that soon. I told them we’d keep in touch in case she didn’t get adopted that weekend.

Kiko, Australian Shepherd Mix

I soon got another email from them, telling me that Kiko had fallen ill. She had contracted kennel cough, and wouldn’t be able to make it to her spayed/vaccination appointment until she was fully healed. While I was sad to hear she was sick, I was hopeful she would not get adopted before we were able to come see her (she was located three hours south of us). They said they would contact me once she was better.

Weeks went by, and I heard nothing. I emailed them again to check up on her, but I got no response. I was worried her illness took a turn for the worse. Or maybe she ended up being adopted by someone else. We got sent out on another work trip, and I started to accept the fact that she was no longer available.

We were waiting in the airport, heading home from our work trip, when I received an email from the adoption center. Kiko was better! She had her spayed/vacc appointment set up for that next weekend. Jordan and I had already planned a camping trip down south to Zions, and Kiko would be and easy stop on the drive back up.

Kiko, Australian Shepherd Mix

We have had her for just over a month now, and we are so happy! It is the BEST to come home to a wiggly, smiley pup after a long day at work. She keep us on our toes, and we love her. She sure brings a lot of joy into our lives.

Here’s to the many adventures ahead with this pup!
