Backpacking Lake Catherine at Alta, Utah

August 17, 2015

Having the Wasatch mountain range in your backyard is both a blessing and a curse. We really do love living so close to the mountains. But we feel pretty guilty when we don’t take the time to spend our weekend in the outdoors. That’s why the hike to Lake Catherine is one of our favorites. The views are rewarding, and you can easily forget you’re just a mere 15 minute drive away from the city.

Zion National Park, Utah | On Film

Zion National Park, Utah

We visited Zion National Park a few weekends ago, and it rained almost the entire time. BUT as the locals pointed out to us, it was a pretty unique sight to see the red rocks covered in rain. The sun made an appearance intermittently throughout the weekend (jeez I sound like a weatherman). Anyway. It was wet, and beautiful.

Weekend Adventures // Buckskin Gulch, Southern Utah

Buckskin Gulch, Southern Utah

Exploring the red rocks in Utah has been a long time coming for me. I’ve only been in Utah for a few years now, and the adventure to-do list is long. We trekked down to Zions recently, and checked out some beginner slot canyons (no rappelling, just hiking). I was a bit nervous about heading down the slots, as it had been rainy off and on all weekend. Flash floods are a big unknown for me. But we played it safe and stayed mostly on high grounds, and the rain held off just long enough for us to get a few dry hikes in. (Seriously, it started raining minutes before we got back to our car. Twice!)

Weekend Adventures // Kanarra Creek Canyon, Utah

Kanarra Creek Canyon

Just outside of Zion National Park is a town called Kanarraville. Off of main street, you’ll find a trail that takes you in to some gorgeous slot canyons through Kanarra Creek Canyon. Prepare to get a bit wet, we hiked through some spots where the water was up to our knees (water socks saved my feet. That water was cold). We were a bit worried about flash flooding, but the rain held off just about until we made it back to our car.

Utah is RAD, guys.

San Francisco 2015 – Film Photography

April 6, 2015

This Easter weekend, I had the chance to video chat my family. My little sis is in San Francisco for the weekend, and we realized we had people in four different states during our video chat. California, Washington, Utah, and Atlanta! If only one of us were in New York, then we’d really have the states covered. Or Hawaii. :)

But speaking of San Francisco, I did shoot some film while we were there a few weeks back. So, here ya go!

The Narrows at Zion National Park, Utah

The Narrows, Zions, Utah

Jordan took a quick trip out to Zion National Park with his cousins last weekend. I wasn’t able to go (this time), but I wanted him to share a few shots from his trip. We are already planning a trip back down there in a couple weeks!

Here’s Jordan:

The Narrows, Zions, Utah

Hiking through the freezing cold mountain water, balancing over wet slick rocks you can’t see beneath you, and stopping to look up the steep red rock walls of the Narrows is breathtaking- literally from the cold water and the views.
